Ginseng is a plant that has been growing in the undergrowth, mainly in northern Asia, for centuries. It does not exist naturally on the European continent but is now cultivated here. Only the ginseng root is of interest for its active substances content. There are different varieties of ginseng.

Benefits

Ginseng is what is called an adaptogenic plant. This a plant which is able to survive in extreme climate conditions. It is primarily stimulating and energising.

Scientific evidence

Ginseng roots contain substances (ginsenosides) capable of improving physical and mental capacities in cases of fatigue, exhaustion, problems concentrating or during convalescence. These uses are recognised as established by the World Health Organization (WHO).

It recommends a daily dose of 0.5g to 2g of dried roots. Ginseng must be taken in the morning to avoid trouble sleeping. It is preferable to take ginseng in the morning to prevent insomnia. However, its use is not recommended for pregnant or breastfeeding women.
