Our vitamin C or ascorbic acid is combined with selenium and zinc to strengthen their mutual antioxidant effects.

Found in

Peppers and chillies, papaya, guava, kiwi, citrus fruits (lemons, oranges, etc.), broccoli, cabbage, spinach, strawberries and many fruits.

Vitamin C is a water-soluble vitamin and a powerful antioxidant.

It helps:

  • to provide energy
  • with the normal functioning of the nervous system
  • with normal mental functions
  • with the normal functioning of the immune system
  • with the normal formation of collagen for bones, cartilage, skin, teeth and gums
  • to protect DNA, proteins and lipids from oxidative damage (antioxidant effect)
  • to reduce fatigue
  • in the regeneration of vitamin E
  • to increase non-heme iron absorption (iron from plants for example)

Scientific evidence

It is also acts as an enzyme co-factor in many metabolic processes. Ascorbic acid deficiencies have become rare in our countries.

Vitamin C supplements do not generally cause any problems except in those with urinary stones and those with an abnormal accumulation of iron.

The recommended daily dose for women is 100mg and 120mg for pregnant women
