Supplements for women, are they useful?

Are we right to believe that a woman needs supplements to take care of her body and stay in shape at all stages of her life? Naturally exposed to many changes, women must constantly deal with them by getting everything they need from their food to preserve their energy, support their immune system, ensure their growth and that of their babies and protect themselves from oxidative stress and the passage of time. The good news is that supplements can give them a significant boost.

Very specific needs

A woman goes through major changes throughout her life: puberty, pregnancy, perimenopause, menopause. She must therefore always be in tune with her body's needs to cope with her bone health, the vagaries of her periods, hormonal disturbances (pregnancy, post-partum, menopause), increased cardiovascular risks in post-menopause, skin ageing, etc. In short, in every situation, she must adapt to help her body stay healthy and achieve optimal balance. This is far from easy. Indeed, how can we ensure this balance at all times through diet and lifestyle alone?

Women can rest assured that there are targeted supplements to help them.

Equally specific supplements

Depending on her age and physiological needs, a woman needs to be able to find specific nutrients in her supplements. Which ones?

  • During puberty => priority is given to vitamin D, calcium and sometimes iron (heavy periods)
  • Before pregnancy =>  vitamin B9 is a priority (folic acid)
  • During pregnancy & breastfeeding => primarily vitamin B9, iron and essential fatty acids, but also other vitamins (B, D, C, K) and minerals (iodine, calcium, magnesium, zinc)
  • After pregnancy => first and foremost vitamin D and essential fatty acids, but also B group vitamins (B5, B6, B8) C and zinc for strong and healthy hair
  • During perimenopause => priority is given to vitamin D, calcium and sometimes iron (heavy and irregular periods)
  • Menopause= > primarily vitamin D, calcium and vitamin B12 (absorption reduces with age), but also vitamins C (collagen production), E (antioxidant) and K (bone) and magnesium (emotional balance) and essential fatty acids (DHA for the skin)
